NEVER OLD FOR ADVENTURES

What's for dinner

Cheap

I watched a relaxing video on YouTube about cooking outdoors. There is no way this adventure can work while spending $20-$40 per day eating fast food. During my last visit, my doctor called me obese, so the art of cooking has never alluded me.

I have spent ample time in the field, usually out before dawn and back after dark. In all that time, I have never camped where you just sit, relax, and enjoy a campfire. I have tried the stainless cookware out in the field, and they are a pain in the ass. I also have several cast iron pans but don't relish the thought of lugging around 20 pounds of pans, so I decided on steel pans and found a manageable 8-inch pan on Amazon as a customer return for half price.

Steel pans are relatively light compared to cast and are idiot-proof and will outlive me. As far as fire, I packed three different types. The first is a single burner that screws onto a butane tank. This is perfect for a quick stop for a meal or warm coffee.

The next item is the standard two-burner Coleman stove that has been around forever. This will be my main cooktop when camping for weeks at a time.

The last would be my Solo personal stove that works on twigs and ground debris in case I run out of propane and desperately need a warm cup of coffee. I’ll post a few links of what I’m taking if interested.
