Take time to remember
Before it's gone

After looking briefly into my genealogy, I started to wonder why I never bothered to check. I have always felt that I am an American first; the rest is pointless.
Then my grandfather's ring came to mind. My grandfather worked for GE as an engineer for forty years, smoked 3 packs of Camel non-filtered, and died of lung cancer when I was 9.
One time, while lying on the couch, he called me over, pointed to the Mason ring, and said, "See that? You'll never want in life; that's it." When you're 9, stuff like that sticks with you. To this day, I haven't a clue what he was really trying to tell me.
I often wondered if the black signified anything, and Masons aren't really chatty. So, I took the time and researched the Masons and their ring. It turns out it's just an average ring, but now I know.
Now to crush my wholesome moment because that thought was quickly followed by, it's a good thing he can't see me now.
