I am not a big fan of carrying a lot of crap on the outside of a backpack. It might be different in the US but in NE PA it’s a mix of laurel and scrub oaks and will relieve you of your goodies in short order never to be found again. If you carry a handgun on your side, make sure it has a tension top strap or kiss it goodbye.
I picked this up on sale and to me is the perfect pack knife. Boker used special heat treated D2 tool steel. The initial problem I had was how tight this fit in the Kydex sheath. I was worried that if worn on my belt I might slice my perfect six pack abs trying to yank the knife out. Problem solved by mounting on the backpack strap, upside down. Yes, I know I watch too many action movies, but it looks cool, redneck bling😊
I had this saw in my car camping bag but do not need a high tech saw to go car camping so in the go bag it goes. My stove choice for boiling water only requires small sticks but at some point, I will want a regular fire pit and will need larger pieces of wood. Plus, if gone for a while the saw will come in handy setting up a temporary camp site.
