MT bugs out #4

Like I said the concept of a bug out bag is new to me, after some web search the bag contents will be determined by your goal. I read there are those that will choose to shelter in place, didn’t work out too well for the Ukraine. Most will probably fall into the hang around a town or camp waiting for services to be restored. After experiencing McAdoo rule of law during supposedly civil times I have chosen to get as far away as my Arthritis will allow. If what I am storing in my go bag seems strange, I will explain the rationale.

For water I have chosen to carry a small hanging drip water filter. Fill the bag from your water source, hang and place your catch container underneath. I decided on two water containers. The first is a water cell form Sea to Summit and holds 20 liters and folds completely flat for transport. This is going in my laptop section. I will use this once I find a safe location to set up camp. I can fill and add a water purification tablet just to be safe for drinking water. I need to pick up a one-liter soft bottle for the road water. I have included a few photos to help.

This company also makes a camp clean-up kit that folds to the size of a Big Mac. This should allow me to add some warm water to wash up.

Like I said I have been collecting this for a while for a car camping trip and realize some of it is pricey. Instead of a fancy camping mess kit, throw an old small aluminum pot in an old school nap sack for now. The important thing to remember is you need to boil water for safety. If you are sitting in the middle of the woods in the dark, you have more things to worry about than aluminum leaching into your water. Keep an eye out for sales and replace when you can with something more efficient.
