Lifetime Senior Pass
Start here!

What started me on this journey was my attempt to tour around while looking for a new home. I am on a fixed income, and spending north of $50 per night was out of the question.
I stumbled on the senior page of the Park Service and discovered their lifetime pass for $80; you can't beat the value. For that price, you get access to over 3 billion acres of land to camp on while enjoying discounts on the pay parks and tourist attractions. Most of the BLM land is open to camping, including free dispersed camp sites; the only requirement is to move to a new location every three weeks.
There are a lot of seniors that have chosen this lifestyle and refer to themselves as snowbirds. The trend is to end up in Quartzsite, Arizona, for the winter. There are camp sites available for 3-month stays for cheap, and they are located in the gold belt. It allows you a chance to count your gold and prepare for next year, God willing.
I'll place a link for the Park Service, and the photo below is for a camp site next to one area I thought of prospecting. The fence around the camp site is electrified to protect yourself from grizzly bears and wolves; I passed on this one 😀
