While house cleaning my hard drive I found several trail camera photos. Setting the cameras out in the field was a favorite pass time in the late summer.

I ran into these two cubs when checking the camera, first I 👻 the two cubs and smiled watching them try and vanish into the laurels while the big ass ears were sticking out. I couldn't see the 400 pound mom so I checked to my left by the swamp edge and there she was sitting like a donkey just starring at me. I just looked over and told her she had cute cubs and kept walking, no problems.

Every encounter is different, the point is to just stay calm and go about your buisness. I see YouTube videos of people screaming at them out West to let them know you are there, must be Democrat bears. Chances are good the bear smelt you a half mile away and was waiting for you just for a look.

The flip side is they are not your friends or a pet, don't feed them. I once chased a large black bear up a tree while at deer camp, celebrating. The bear slid down the tree looked at me and took off before I could blink, point is you'll never outrun a 🐻
